At the end of 2025, after 5 years of researching and trying to build a company, I (Floris Assies) came to the conclusion that I can’t say with certainty which company comes even close to my standards. And because of that, I’m not comfortable recommending any.
It requires a lot of work to say with certainty if a company is “better” than others when it comes to having the right values and doing everything it can to not take money from players who are playing at a harmful level.
Unfortunately I haven’t managed to build a business that can reliably do so. In this blogpost I explain in more detail why I decided to stop promoting online casinos.
Those who want to gamble
To players who want to gamble online, the first thing I want to ask is: are you sure?
Why do you want to gamble? Are you sure there isn’t a better way to spend your money?
If you play because you hope to win money, please don’t! It is an irrational thing to do.
Gambling costs money. The odds are not in your favour. The games are designed for the house to win, to keep you playing, and to give you the feeling that you are not losing. But you are.
Know that the goal of the casino is not to entertain you, but to maximise profit. Do you really want to be exploited like that?
If you play because you like to play casino games, ok. But are you aware of the addictive nature of casino games? How they work and what they do to you?
I would rather you don’t gamble.
If you want to feel good about yourself, then:
- go do sport
- go help someone
- go spend money with your friends
There is plenty of scientific proof about what makes you happy. Gambling isn’t one of them.
If you still really want to gamble, then don’t just gamble.
- Gamble with a budget and set limits.
- Don’t gamble alone.
- Not under the influence.
- Gamble only at companies that are licensed in reputable jurisdictions.
