Entain Sustainability review

My most recent review of Entain is based on the analysis of the annual report of 2020.

I give Entain group a 3 out of 5 stars rating in terms of environmental performance. On the sustainability page on their website they state that ¨the most sustainable business in our industry will be the most successful business in our industry¨ which gives the impression that they are very ambitious regarding their sustainability goals. They are on their way to become carbon neutral ´no later than 2035´. At the moment they are offsetting their carbon footprint by means of investing int planting half a million mangrove trees. I will keep a close look on how they develop in the future. For now I give them 3 stars for good intention and transparency regarding their footprint

With regards to social performance I give Entain a 4 out of 5 star rating. According to their report, 87% of employees say they feel appreciated and 78% recommends Entain as employer. They rank first on the All-in Diversity Charter’s All-Index. WIth regards to the players Entain sets high standards when it comes to responsble gaming and through the Entain Foundation they invest 120 million euro into Research, education and treatment (RET) with regards to “safer betting and gaming”, promotion of grassroots sport, diversity and technology.

In terms of governance I have given Entain Group 4 out of 5 stars rating. Entain is focussed on offering their services only in regulated markets by 2023. These are markets which the government or other organisations have a higher level of oversight and control. Furthermore bonus schemes are tied to performance with regards to safer betting and gaming and 1% of GGY (gross gaming yield) will be used to fund Research, Education and Treatment by 2022.

Overal, during the first review of Entain based on publicly available resources, they seem to be transparent about their business and sincere in their ambitions to become a sustainable business. I am looking forward to following and reporting on their progress and comparing them to other gambling operators.
